01 -
Preheat oven to 275°F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
02 -
Remove the thin white membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a small knife under it and peeling it off. Trim excess fat if needed and cut into 2-4 sections for easier handling if desired.
03 -
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. Brush the meaty side of the ribs with oil.
04 -
In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the ribs.
05 -
Place ribs on the prepared baking sheet, meaty side up, and cover the pan tightly with foil. Bake for 2 hours.
06 -
Test doneness by piercing the meat with a sharp knife or bending the ribs gently. The meat should pull away from the bone with little resistance. If not tender, cook for another 20-30 minutes.
07 -
While the ribs bake, combine all sauce ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
08 -
Remove ribs from oven and increase temperature to 325°F. Brush ribs with 1/4 cup of the BBQ sauce and bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
09 -
Brush with another 1/4 cup of sauce, then set the oven to broil and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
10 -
Serve the ribs hot with the remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
