Garlic Fried Rice (Printable Recipe)

Simple Filipino-style garlic fried rice made with leftover rice and crispy sautéed garlic.

# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 3 to 4 cups cooked long grain white rice, 1 to 2 days old, refrigerated
02 - 1 teaspoon salt, divided
03 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
04 - 4 large cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1/4 teaspoon white pepper

→ Optional Garnish

06 - 1 thinly sliced green onion or a handful of chives

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Place the cold cooked rice in a large mixing bowl. Use your hands to gently separate and loosen the grains. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon salt evenly over the rice and mix well using a spoon.
02 - Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds to 1 minute until crisp and golden, taking care not to burn it.
03 - Add the prepared rice to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to combine the garlic and oil with the rice, cooking for about 2 minutes while evenly coating the grains.
04 - Reduce the heat if necessary to prevent sticking. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and white pepper over the rice. Continue stirring for 1 to 2 minutes until the seasoning is well distributed.
05 - Transfer to serving dishes and garnish with sliced green onion or chives if desired. Serve hot as a side for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

# Extra Tips:

01 - Use day-old, refrigerated long-grain rice for best texture; freshly cooked rice retains too much moisture and may become soggy when stir-fried.
02 - Adjust salt according to any previous seasoning in the leftover rice to avoid over-salting.
03 - This dish is best enjoyed fresh; refrigerated leftovers keep for up to 2 days but do not freeze well.
