Crispy pierogi with sautéed cabbage and apples for a cozy weeknight dish

# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 batch homemade pierogi or store-bought
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 1 medium sweet onion, thinly sliced
04 - 1 large apple, cut into 1/2 inch slices
05 - 10 ounces shredded green cabbage
06 - 1 tablespoon white balsamic vinegar
07 - 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
08 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
09 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
10 - Sour cream, for serving (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Pan-fry pierogi according to homemade recipe instructions or follow the directions on the store-bought packaging.
02 - Warm butter in a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 4–5 minutes. Add the apple and cook for 2 minutes.
03 - Stir in cabbage, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook while stirring until cabbage is slightly wilted but remains crunchy, about 2 minutes.
04 - Divide the cabbage mixture and pierogi among plates. Serve with sour cream on the side if desired.

# Extra Tips:

01 - The sugar balances the vinegar's acidity, but it may be omitted based on preference.
