Pour the root beer over the pork ensuring it is mostly submerged to promote even cooking and flavor.

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the pork is very tender and easily shredded with a fork.

Remove the pork from the cooker and shred using two forks discarding excess fat and bone if present.
