Savory Tuna Oatmeal Patties (Printable Recipe)

Tuna, oats, herbs, and mozzarella combine for a wholesome, protein-rich dish perfect for quick lunches or meal prep.

# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Patties

01 - 1 cup oatmeal (quick oats or old-fashioned oats)
02 - 2 large eggs
03 - 1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
04 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
05 - 1 teaspoon Provençal herbs or dried herb blend
06 - 1/2 teaspoon sweet or smoked paprika
07 - 2 to 3 green onion stalks, chopped
08 - 1 can tuna, drained (in water or oil)
09 - 100 grams mozzarella cheese, diced or shredded

→ For Frying and Garnish

10 - 1 to 2 tablespoons avocado oil
11 - Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Combine the oatmeal and milk in a mixing bowl. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes to allow the oats to absorb the liquid.
02 - Add eggs, salt, Provençal herbs, and paprika to the soaked oats. Mix until well combined.
03 - Drain the tuna, flake it with a fork, and mix it into the oat mixture along with chopped green onions.
04 - Fold in the mozzarella cheese to help bind the mixture and add a creamy center.
05 - Shape the mixture into palm-sized patties. If too loose, add breadcrumbs or flour as needed.
06 - Heat avocado oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
07 - Place patties in the skillet and fry each side for 3–4 minutes or until golden brown and cheese melts.
08 - Sprinkle sesame seeds on top during the last minute of cooking for added crunch.
09 - Transfer patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with sauce or salad.

# Extra Tips:

01 - Use tuna in oil for best texture and richness. If using tuna in water, ensure it's well-drained.
02 - Batter can be prepared up to a day in advance and stored in the fridge.
03 - For baking, place patties on parchment paper and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
